Bimecc Stud & Nut Conversion Kit
A must-have for drivers looking to enhance both ease of wheel installation and vehicle aesthetics. This kit is particularly beneficial for those running aftermarket wheels and/or spacers, ensuring proper fitment, safety, and security.
Also available with Copper nuts.
Each kit is sold as a complete vehicle set for 5-bolt wheels. If you have 4-bolt wheels, Bimecc studs and nuts can be purchased separately.
Why Choose a Stud & Nut Conversion?
Safety & Security
When installing spacers or aftermarket wheels, the available thread engagement for securing your wheels may be reduced.
- Aftermarket wheels often have a thicker mounting surface, requiring longer studs/bolts for proper fitment.
- Spacers shift the wheel further from the hub, reducing the available thread engagement by the thickness of the spacer.
For example, installing a 15mm spacer reduces your thread engagement by 15mm. To maintain safety, this lost thread length must be recovered using longer studs or bolts.
Why Use the Bimecc Stud & Nut Conversion Kit?
While longer bolts are an option, converting to studs and nuts is the preferred solution for both safety and ease of installation.
- Faster & easier wheel changes – Studs act as guides, eliminating the hassle of aligning bolt holes when mounting wheels.
- Stronger & more secure – Provides consistent and proper thread engagement, essential for safety.
- Ideal for track use – Increased durability and reliability under high-performance driving conditions.

Installation Guide
Professional installation is recommended.
Tools & Consumables Required
- Thread chasing tool (size depends on vehicle)
- Penetrating oil (e.g., WD-40)
- Brake cleaner
- Clean cloths
- Wire brush
- Thread lock (e.g., Permatex 8179)
- Torque wrench (correctly calibrated) and suitable sockets
Installation Steps
Prepare the Hub & Threads
- Inspect the hub face and clean any rust or imperfections.
- Use a wire brush to remove corrosion.
- Clean the threads using brake cleaner, penetrating oil, and a thread chasing tool.
- Wipe down with a clean cloth to ensure no contaminants remain.
Prepare the Studs
- Spray each new stud with brake cleaner, then wipe with a clean cloth.
- Allow to dry for about 1 minute.
Test Fitment
- Manually thread a stud into the hub (using the short end) to ensure it does not bottom out prematurely.
- If unsure, measure the stud hole depth with a thin tool to confirm adequate space.
- Check each stud hole to ensure no debris or broken bolts remain inside.
Install the Studs
- Apply a small amount of thread lock to the tip and first 5mm of the stud’s smaller threaded end.
- Hand-tighten the stud into the hub.
- Use the double-nut method:
- Thread one nut halfway onto the stud.
- Thread a second nut against it, with the tapered sides facing each other.
- Tighten both together using a socket.
- Torque the stud to 32Nm using a torque wrench.
- Repeat for all studs.
Note: Thread lock takes 1 hour to set and 24 hours to fully cure.
Mount the Wheels
- Align the wheel onto the studs (no additional consumables needed).
- Tighten the nuts in a star pattern (tighten opposite nuts sequentially).
- Lower the vehicle and torque the nuts to 122Nm using a torque wrench.
Final Checks
- Re-torque after 100 miles (or after returning to the pits if used on track).
