Why Does Your BMW Need a WiFi Antenna for Apple CarPlay?
BMW's factory wireless Apple CarPlay system uses wireless connectivity between your iPhone and the vehicle's iDrive infotainment system.
Although your BMW may already support Bluetooth phone calls and music streaming, Bluetooth functionality does not necessarily mean the vehicle has the WiFi antenna hardware required for wireless Apple CarPlay.
Some BMW NBT EVO head units have the necessary WiFi capabilities but were supplied without an external antenna. If your vehicle requires an antenna as part of a compatible Apple CarPlay activation, this retrofit aerial provides the necessary hardware connection.

How to Check If Your BMW Has NBT EVO ID5/ID6
Before ordering your BMW WiFi antenna, we recommend checking which infotainment system is fitted to your vehicle.
Step 1 – Check Your iDrive Menu
NBT EVO ID5 and ID6 systems commonly feature a modern tile-based main menu rather than the older traditional list-style BMW iDrive menu.
Step 2 – Check Your Navigation Version
Open your BMW navigation settings and locate the installed map version. NBT EVO navigation systems commonly display map names containing EVO.
For example: Road Map Europe EVO. Please note that EVO navigation maps alone do not confirm an ID5/ID6 system, as some ID4 systems also use EVO maps.
Step 3 – Confirm Your Head Unit
Verify that your BMW has an NBT EVO ID5/ID6 head unit with a compatible WiFi antenna connection. Check whether an antenna is already installed. A head-unit identification check may be required.
Step 4 – Contact DC Prestige

BMW NBT EVO WiFi Antenna Installation
The antenna connects to the matching WiFi aerial socket at the rear of a compatible BMW NBT EVO head unit.
Installation generally involves accessing the rear of the iDrive head unit, connecting the aerial and positioning the antenna securely behind the dashboard.
Depending on your BMW model, dashboard trim and head-unit removal may be necessary to access the antenna connection.
No wire cutting or soldering is normally required when the correct antenna socket is present.
Professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with BMW interior trim removal or infotainment electronics.
Please note: Installing the antenna does not automatically enable Apple CarPlay. Compatible software activation is required separately where CarPlay is not already enabled.

Will this antenna activate Apple CarPlay in my BMW?
No. The antenna provides the WiFi aerial connection only. Apple CarPlay must already be activated or coded separately on a compatible infotainment system. DC Prestige can provide activation services for supported vehicles.
Does my BMW need a WiFi antenna for wireless Apple CarPlay?
A compatible wireless CarPlay system requires suitable WiFi hardware and an antenna. Some BMWs already have this hardware installed, while others may require an additional aerial when retrofitting CarPlay.
Will this fit my BMW F20, F30, F32 or F82?
It may fit these models if your BMW is equipped with a compatible NBT EVO ID5/ID6 head unit and the correct WiFi antenna connection. The chassis code alone does not guarantee compatibility.
My BMW already has Bluetooth. Do I still need this antenna?
Possibly. Bluetooth phone calls and audio streaming do not guarantee that your BMW has the external WiFi antenna needed for wireless Apple CarPlay. Your existing hardware should be checked first.
Does this work with BMW NBT EVO ID4?
This antenna is intended for compatible NBT EVO ID5/ID6 installations. NBT EVO ID4 systems do not gain native wireless Apple CarPlay simply by installing an antenna. A separate compatible upgrade or retrofit solution may be required.
Does this antenna work with BMW iDrive 7 or iDrive 8?
This product is intended for compatible NBT EVO ID5/ID6 applications, not newer MGU-based iDrive 7 or iDrive 8 installations.
Does this antenna add Android Auto?
No. This antenna does not independently add Android Auto or other software functions to your BMW infotainment system.
Can I install this BMW WiFi antenna myself?
Installation may be possible if you're comfortable removing BMW dashboard trim and accessing the rear of the head unit. Professional installation is recommended if you're unfamiliar with vehicle electronics or interior trim removal.
